Classroom-Based Instructor-Led Training (ILT) still tops the list…

In this article from Chief Learning Officer it describes the results from a survey about how training takes place.  And classroom-based instructor-led training topped the charts for soft skills.

I don’t think e-learning is going to replace the role of teacher.  I think that there are many things that are still best taught face to face.  I believe that each individual needs to understand their own learning preferences, in order to choose a learning experience that best supports them.

In another blog post by Jared Stein, he proposes looking at Deep, extensive reading as it relates to learning.  I will be watching his progress as this idea of deep reading has been tugging at the back of my mind.  I know that my own reading comprehension decreases when I read on the screen.  However, with my new iPad I have been reading more of my books on that handy little screen.  Along with “deep reading” is that idea of deep understanding.  Isn’t that what we are all searching for in our students?

  1. Instructor led training provides a better learning platform than online training – I know from personal experience as I own and operate a computer training facility. It’s good to see that statistics are backing up the trustworthiness among instructor led classes.
